Breaking News: Alien Show of Power Has Long-Term Consequences for One Texas Town
PRALINE, TX — -April 18, 2025: Seventy-four years after the fact, residents of Praline Texas learned this week that the alien-engineered global power outage in 1951 only lasted for about 30 minutes.
“Well, our electrical service was never that reliable, so we just took it in stride when that spaceman made the Earth stand still,” explained Praline Mayor Orville Jenkins, owner of the Lone Star Bar, Grill, Hotel, and Pool Hall.
Local historian, Christian Pendergass, noted, “Sometimes the word travels slowly in these parts — think Juneteenth.”
“We didn’t want to take a chance of trying to use the electrical too soon after that alien shut it off,” said local hunter and volunteer fireman Virgil Clague. “He had lots of fancy equipment in that spaceship, and that Gort fella was bigger and tougher than any critter anyone in these parts have tussled with.”
Kayleene Boone, longtime waitress at the Lone Star realized that the power was back on when she saw a young boy, passing through the town with his family, plug his videogame into an outlet. “That toy just sprang to life,” reported Kayleene. “It will be great to power up our electric grill again, our barbecue is on its last legs.”
Christian Pendergrass was the only resident to strike a note of caution. “That alien , Klaatu, said that he would destroy the Earth, turn it into a burned-out cinder, if we didn’t stop threatening other planets by developing atomic weapons. You never know when that fella might make good on that threat.” With that, everyone in earshot, including this reporter, reflexively looked up at the sky.
